A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Nannie Foster Portwood. She was a graduate of the cosmetology profession and was owner of a beauty salon for twenty years in Richmond. In later years she was a dog breeder in Somerset, Kentucky, specializing in the Yorkshire Terrier breed. Mrs. Lear was the widow of Elmer Lear and was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Nelson Portwood and Donald Kenneth Portwood.
She is survived by one daughter, Agnes Lear Farley (& Bruce) of Georgia; one step-son, Carl Lear of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Heather Farley of Minnesota; three brother James Nelson Portwood, Donald Kenneth Portwood, and Ronald W Portwood and six sisters, Aileen Leese, Janice Day, Dorothy Wilson, Roberta Bolton, Gladys Portwood and Joyce Hayden, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery.
