Mrs. Betty Lou Mangrum, age 75 of Alto Pass, died at 8:54 am, Thursday December 12, 2013 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born May 19, 1938 in Alto Pass, the daughter of Elmer Otis and Mamie Dell Smith Doughty. Betty married Edward Lee Mangrum on May 27, 1959 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1990.

Betty is survived by 3 children, Christina M. (Bill J.) Lee of Norris City, Sheila Ann Mangrum of Dongola, and Edward Lee Mangrum, Jr. of Anna; six grandchildren, Chrystal Lee, Stacy Lee, William Christopher Lee, Michelle Marquardt, Melanie Newberry, and Nathan Hastings; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 brother, Otis (Lucy) Doughty of Rockford; 1 sister, Sadie Dell Everett of Rockford; other relatives and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Lee Mangrum; and two brothers, Bill and Raymond Doughty.

Betty was a Pentecostal minister at the Macedonia Church in Pomona for many years.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Mangrum will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday December 15, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass with Rev. Bill Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass.
