Anne A. Karpenko, 92, of McAlisterville RR2, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at her residence. Born on Aug. 5, 1908, in a sod house on her parents homestead, south of Butte, ND, she was the eldest daughter of the late Victor N. and Olga (Bursuk) Moseanko. In 1936, she married Fred A. Karpenko, who died Feb. 20, 1947. She is survived by two sons, Lyle Karpenko of McAlisterville and Larry Karpenko of Hamburg; a sister, Mrs. Gus (Stayce) Tachenko of Grassy Butte, ND; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Karpenko and three brothers, George, John and Alec Moseanko. She graduated from Butte High School and earned a lifetime teaching certificate from Minot State Teachers College, Minot, ND. She taught in many public elementary and church schools in North Dakota for 30 years until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Mifflintown Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was active in the Ladies Community Services of ADRA. She was also a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She enjoyed cooking for guests at her home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mifflintown Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Bernard Mohr officiating. Interment will be held Wednesday in Kief Cemetery, Kief, ND. Friends may call 3 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflintown Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund, HCR 63, Box 37, Washington Ave. Ext., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to The Quiet Hour, P.O.
