ROSEBORO — Mr. Noah B. Barefoot, 75 of 206 Sumner Ave., died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Roseboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Barefoot was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Delbert Ernest and Neva Godwin Barefoot. He was preceded in death by a son, Noah B. Barefoot Jr.; and a sister, Flora B. Autry.

Mr. Barefoot taught math, music and art in the Sampson County School System from which he retired after more than 30 years. He was the music minister at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church for 52 years. He led a children's ministry crusade for more than 30 years, traveling throughout the country teaching children about God. Mr. Barefoot was well-known for rewarding students in his classes and children's crusades with an M&M for appropriate behavior. He was a man of many talents. He played piano and the accordion. He enjoyed painting and drawing in his art studio at home and at Sampson Community College with fellow artists.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Westa Hawley Barefoot; daughter, Bonita Barefoot Spain and husband Reggie; daughter, Dawn Barefoot; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Barefoot, all of Greenville; brother, D.E. Barefoot of Salemburg; sister, Cassie Barefoot of Roseboro; sister, Mary Autry of Stedman; and grandchildren, Coleman Spain, Tollie Spain, Mary Catherine Spain, Hudson Noah Spain and Mary Beth Barefoot.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Roseboro.
