Sam's birth was near Covington, KY, presumably in Kenton Co. Not sure of county. He was in lumber business, owned a logging camp and saw mill with his brother in Canada. He grew up in Nebraska then moved in 1908 to Vancouver Island, B.C., then to Seattle in 1926. The logging operation was near Alberni, BC where he and his wife were living in 1922.

In Seattle he was a contractor until retirement. In the 1940s they lived at 7028 17th St. NE in Seattle. Still in Seattle they lived at 8448 Seward Park S. at time of death. He was a member of Modern Woodmen of America and Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church. Funeral at Butterworth Mortuary. He was cremated. He died at 1:00 AM & funeral at 3 PM.

As a child Sam was called "Am," short for Ambrose, but somewhere along the way in his early years friends began to say "Sam," instead of "Am" and that stuck. Am ryhmed with Sam.
