He was born to Chester Lavon Stout and Ida Pearl Brown Stout on September 29, 1936 in Hurricane, Utah. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he graduated from Granite High School and further his education at BYU.
Married Betty Jean Walton on January 17, 1959. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together, they raised three children.
He loved family BBQ's, golfing with the grandkids, camping, hunting, fishing, boating at Lake Powell, traveling in the motor home, going on long rides, and vacationing with his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, love, and devotion to his family and all who knew him. He was known for his honesty through a hand shake. He will be missed dearly.
Survived by his loving wife; three children, Lori K. Thorn, Lisa A. Farrington (Rod), and James Mitchell Stout (Kim); eight grandchildren, Weston, Ladd, Kaitlin, Chase, Amanda, Cody (Hermosillo, Mexico mission), Coleman (Santiago West, Chile mission), and Kaden; two great-grandchildren, Kaydance and Kaddan; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Walton; sister-in-law, Sherrie D. Wilde; and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by his brother, Brian (Rochelle); and sisters, Judy (Bill) and Jan (Leon). Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth; brothers, Larry and John; father-in-law, I.L. Walton; and son-in-law, Mark D. Thorn.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m.,on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Willow Creek Second Ward Chapel, 2400 East Alta Canyon Drive, Sandy. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
