She moved to Los Angeles in 1941 from Gila, New Mexico. She was employed by Pacific Electric where she met and married Michael Kapitan who preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Kapitan was devoted to her family and was very active in the community. She held various offices in the Herb Society, Rose Society, March of Dimes, and PTA. She also worked on the Election Board and enjoyed decorating Rose Parade floats. Adventurous, fun-loving, and creative, she made friends every place she went and "never knew a stranger".
Myrtle is survived by her three children, Kenneth Kapitan of Azusa, Dorothy (Dennis) McGee of Rochester, NY and Michelle Byrne of Redondo Beach as well as 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
