Violet Visti Holder, age 93, of Roodhouse, died Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2005 at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born Dec. 21, 1911 in Belltown, the daughter of Oscar Otis and Juanita B. Gound Crum. She married Virgil Leo Holder March 22, 1936 in Berdan and he preceded her in death in Aug. of 1964. She is survived by one daughter, Pansy Henderson (companion, Joseph Chaney) of Naples; two sons, Charles Otis (wife, Brookie) Holder of Roodhouse and Ty Lloyd Edward (wife, Valerie) Holder of Greenfield; 22 grandchildren, Joe Lawson, Faye Fry, Linda Crayton, Peggy Camp, Jimmie English, Garetta Kullman, Debra Lemmons, Larry Henderson, Peggy Dixon, Steve Henderson, Lori DeOrnellas, Wayne Chaney, Brenda Cooper, Gilbert Holder, Jr., Stacey Holder, Billy Jo Holder, Kevin Holder, Chad Holder, Melissa Holder, Tyson Holder, Mallory Holder and Adam Holder; 50 great grandchildren; 32 great-great grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Joycene Crum and Lenora Pollard, both of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by one son, Gilbert Leo Holder, Sr.; one granddaughter, Patty Ann Holder; four brothers, Charley Crum, Gilbert "Dude" Crum, Otis "Curly" Crum and Leonard "Dink" Crum and one sister, Pansy Short. Mrs. Holder was a member of the Roodhouse Pentecostal Church. She was a cook for Pat and Don's Cafe and babysat for many children in the community. She loved to garden and raise flowers. She loved her church and reading her bible. She loved children and enjoyed cooking for her large family at gatherings. GREENE PRAIRIE PRESS, Carrollton, Illinois, Wednesday, October 26, 2005 Holder services Funeral services for Violet Holder were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with Rev. Gary Coates officiating. Vocalists Sonny Moran and Edna Moran "This Is Just What Heaven Means To Me" and "Little Is Much" and Rod Manley sang "I Thirst", accompanied by organist Jean Coates. Pallbearers were Larry Crum, Jr., Lonnie Crum, Bobby Crum, Mike McCartney, Logan Crum, Cody Crum, Sam Guthrie and Jason Guthrie. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Vortman, Larry Crum, Sr., Terry Osborne and Casey Osborne. Burial was at Belltown Cemetery.
