Born April 28, 1890, he was a son of Martin and Cora Race Proper.
His first wife, the former Miss Louise Trinker (sic), died Nov. 19, 1936. He later married Mrs. Nellie Wilson, who survives.
Mr. Proper was an employee of Revere Copper and Brass, Incorporated for 35 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Good Neighbor Club of Utica and the Lake Delta Volunteer Fireman's Assn.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Tellefsen, Staten Island; a son, Maj. Anthony Proper, USA, stationed at Forest Park, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Philo Maxwell and Mrs. Ronald Greenwood, Great Barrington, Mass.; three brothers,, Charles Proper, Rome; Theodore Proper, Pittsfield, Mass. and Myron Proper, Curryville; three stepchildren, Mrs. Albert Kotary and Harlen Wilson, Rome; Melvin Wilson, Boonville; several nieces and nephews.
