Dennis Edward Augustine was born Jan 17, 1933 in Ellis County. His parents were Ambrose & Josephine Augustine. He grew up in Ellis attending St Mary's Catholic Grade School & Ellis High School.

In April 1957 Dennis married Mary Jane Schwentner having five children from that union. He married Frieda Blazer December 31, 1984 with this union adding Frieda's three children to his family.

He joined the 133rd Anti Aircraft Artillery National Guard June 6, 1950 and was discharged Nov 1959. Dennis graduated from Barton County Community College with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice and graduated from St Mary's College in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Psychology. He was a captain of the Larned Police Department as well as being active in the Police Cadet Program for adolescents aged 12-18.

In 1985 Dennis left the Larned Police department & became director of Sunrise Inc. A halfway house in Larned working with chemically addicted clients until his retirement in 1995. He moved to the Osborne County area in 1997 where he became a part-time officer for the sheriff's department. One of Dennis' major enjoyments was working with wood, making beautiful pieces of furniture, toys, shelves & Knick Knacks.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda of the home; four sons, Dennis H. and Doran both of Cawker City and Dion and David both of Downs; a stepson, James Blazer III of Beloit; a daughter, Denise Augustine of Winfield; two stepdaughters, Tammy Hoffman of Byers and Jacci Standlee of Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
