Son of Samuel Davidson Wasson and wife Caroline R. (Simpson)Wasson. Josiah married Martha Hart (McCord) daughter of Thomas Porter McCord and wife Mary Ann (Walker)in Mt. Hope on 11 January 1866.
Josiah served the CSA as a Lt. In Co. B with the 16th Alabama Infantry where he was shot in the left knee at the battle of Shiloh, shot through the left hand at Murfreesboro, and shot in the left shoulder at Lovejoy Station, GA.
Josiah who was a Farmer in Alabama, moved his family which included his elderly mother Caroline, to Leland in Ellis County Texas where he owned an operated a store in Alma and served as the Ellis County Texas Postmaster. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txellis/ghost-towns/hope.htm
Josiah buried his mother Caroline on 17 April 1893 and 3 short weeks later buried his beloved wife Martha on 9 May 1893 in the Old Chatfield Cemetery, Chatfield, Navarro County, Texas. Josiah died on 20 July 1904.
