The place name of Jedborough came from an old clock in the family that bore this name. F. Stevenson had a guess of 1770-80 for his birthdate. The death date arises because on 18 December 1844 "Joan" Douglas was issued guardianship letter for Launcy Douglas, male over 14 years of age.

Based on Scottish naming patterns, his father was John and his mother potentially Isabella.

From a county history of his nephew Andrew, Lot was in Illinois in 1831.

(The county bio of his son Adam says that Adam was born in Roxburgshire, just 5 miles from the English border. There is a town called Jedburgh there, I wonder if this is the right place.)

The family came to America in 1830 and settled in Chester, IL.

WILL BOOK B., p11., Dated 14 March 1841.
