David Wardlaw Bradley, a twin son of John Tatum Bradley and the former Miss Katrina Alma "Kitty" Wardlaw, was born in the bounds of Bordeaux in Abbeville County, South Carolina on the 3rd of October 1904. His parents were both from old established families in the early history of Abbeville. David was named for his maternal grandfather, David Jordan Wardlaw. David's twin brother, John Edward Bradley, died when he was in the 3rd year of their age.

At the age of 5, David's mother died; leaving him and his father to morn their loss. John Bradley moved with his son to Union, South Carolina; where young David attended school. David would gone on to graduate from North Carolina State. While at NC State, David belonged to "The Clemson Club"... his father was in the first graduating class and his paternal grandfather, a Trustee.

In 1930, David married Miss Grace Wheeler in Polk County, Florida. This union would have one son, David, Jr. David and Grace made their home in High Point, North Carolina.

David's father, re-married after the death of "Kitty"... Miss Alberta "Bertie" Ladd. This union had two children: a son, John Tatum, Jr. and a daughter Frances Katrine.
