From The New Castle Record, dated Saturday, October 9, 1920:
Mrs. Elisha Brizendine died from blood poisoning after a short illness at her home at Barbours Creek last Friday. She is survived by her husband and nine children, the youngest twins, about ten days old at the time of the mother's death. The affliction in this family is heavy and the sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing ones.
