George Strockey was born to Christian Strockey and Caroline Zeitz in 1849 in Stephenson County, IL. His father died about 1851 in IL. His mother remarried in 1852 to James Nelson Tobyne. The family then moved to Gage County, NE in 1868. In 1871 George married Mary Hackenberg. George owned one of the first grocery stores in Beatrice, NE. After he retired he moved to Diller, NE and had come to Stockton with his family for the winter when he died here.
