Dr. H.C. Emmert of Bethany, Oklahoma went to be with Jesus on December 1, 2013. Henry Clay Emmert was born December 3, 1921 to Rev. Joseph and Lela Emmert of Wheeler County, Texas. He was called H.C. as he grew up in Nazarene parsonages in Mangum and Grandfield, Oklahoma. While in Grandfield, he met his heart's treasure, Alva June Wilson of the local church and they were married on May 30, 1939.
H.C. was called to preach and entered the ministry with the Church of the Nazarene in 1943. His ministry continued for over seventy years with ten churches in five states while also teaching Bible and Theology in four Holiness Bible Colleges. Dr. Emmert founded the local Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in 1979.
Preceding Dr. Emmert in death were his parents, Rev. Joseph and Lela Emmert; brothers, Edward Emmert, Harold Emmert, and Dr. J. Louis Emmert; and sister, Ruth Pickens.
Dr. Emmert is survived by Mrs. June Emmert of the home; four children, Margaret Clark and husband Dan, Linda Skodak of the home, Clay Emmert and wife Linda, Judy Mansfield and husband Larry; sister, Allie Eppler; brother, Sam Emmert and wife Kathy; brothers-in-law, Rev. O.W. Wilson and wife Bessie, Don Wilson and wife Linda; plus a host of friends and relatives.
Dr. Emmert was a loving husband and father, a treasured friend of sweet spirit and wit. Dr. Emmert's unwavering faith and heavy reliance on intercessory prayer made him an inspiration to all who knew him.
Viewing will be Tuesday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK 73008, (405) 495-4363. Services will be Wednesday, December 4, 2:00pm at Calvary Bible Fellowship, 6606 N.W. 16th St., OKC, with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
