Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Strode Chapel. The Rev. B. Gordon Edwards will officiate. Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
Sewell was born on March 7, 1913 in Ft. Scott, Kan. to Ora James and Mattie Mae (Hipes) Parrish. She was married to James Clenton Sewell on Nov. 2, 1948 in Long Beach, Calif. He died on March 13, 1997.
She grew up and attended schools in Ft. Scott, Kan. She lived in Jefferson City, Mo. from October 1935 to September 1946. Sewell and her husband lived in California until her husband retired in January 1971. They lived in Wickenburg, Ariz. before moving to Stillwater in July 1984. They moved to Springfield, Mo. in 1992 and returned to Stillwater in 1994. Sewell was a life-long democrat.
Sewell was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She worked for Bank of America.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Sewell; and three sisters.
Sewell is survived by two nieces, Maxine Collins and husband Fred, West Plains, Mo.; Luwanda Chappell and husband Tom, New Baden; four nephews, Don Foy and wife Earline, Hurst, Texas; Gordon Foy, Florida, Glen Michaels and Harold Michaels, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and one cousin Meredeth Wade, Stillwater.
