Arthur E. Peterson was born to Elmer A. and Hilda (Johnson) Peterson on December 3, 1916 in Galva. He was baptized on July 8, 1917 and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith.

Arthur received his elementary education in the Galva consolidated school. On 1931, the family moved to a farm in the Fairview community, where he received his high school education. On November 18, 1936, Arthur was united in marriage to Pearl Kraemer in Jackson, MN. This union was blessed with four children, Roger Arthur, Janet Anne, Ronald Ernest, and Robert Eugene.

They farmed and lived at the same place for 55 years. In 1993, the couple moved to their home in Storm Lake. Arthur enjoyed doing things with his family and friends. He was always willing to help when needed. He loved all kinds of sports and fishing.
