Louisa Maye Powell-Copenhaver was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, on April 13, 1913. She slipped into the arms of her savior on November 28, 2013, at the Southeast Colorado Hospital after living a bountiful life of 100 years and 8 months. Louisa had a profound effect on hundreds of people in her lifetime and was well loved and will be missed by many.

Louisa moved with her parents Hervey and Isabelle Powell from Shattuck, Oklahoma, in 1915 in a covered wagon pulled by a team of horses to their homestead eight miles east of Campo. She was the 6th child of eight children born to her mother.

She attended grade school at Liberty Bell County School. She rode her horse to the Bethel School in her 8th grade year and attended Campo High School. Louisa accepted her Savior, Jesus Christ, into her heart in her early teens and graduated from Campion Adventist Academy in Loveland, Colorado.

Louisa was married to Henry Andrew Copenhaver on August 10, 1931. They had their first home in Bartlett, Colorado, and later moved to Springfield. Henry and Louisa had one son, Morton Thomas Copenhaver, born in 1933. They later moved to their permanent home and family farm in 1943. Louisa was widowed in 1991 and later moved from the farm back to Springfield, Colorado.

When Louisa's son Morton was about 10 years old he and his father Henry accepted their Savior, Jesus Christ, into their hearts. They were baptized together into the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Owen, Orvill, Melvin and Kermit Powell and by her sisters Oletha Harper and Exona Schnaufer.

She leaves behind on this earth her beloved sister and best friend Edyth Lowder, her son and daughter in law Dr. Morton and Janice Copenhaver, grandaughters Daina Mason, Delawn Hawkins, Jennifer Williams, Carrie Schmidt and Katie Brown. She leaves 16 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren who will be re-united with her one day in heaven.

Louisa was best known for her loving Christian heart, her generous hospitality and her delicious cooking. She entertained hundreds of relatives and friends over the years with the wonderful meals that she took pride in preparing and serving. Much of the food she served was grown in her own garden. She was a prolific and talented painter and her paintings hang in her son's and each of her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's homes.

She was a shining example of a Christian Woman and she set the bar high for those who would follow in her footsteps. She will be interred beside her beloved husband of over 60 years in the Campo Cemetery.

A potluck luncheon will be held in Louisa's honor at the Campo Community Center at 11:00 on Thursday, December 5, 2013, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
