Funeral service for Gaston Gee, of Denmark will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Christ Episcopal Church, Denmark, with interment in Bamberg Memory Gardens. After the interment, there will be a celebration of Gaston's life at 125 Byrnes St., Denmark.
Mr. Gee died Sunday at Palmetto Richland Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Spartanburg County, the son of the late Dr. Wilson and Mary Gaston Gee of Charlottesville, Va. He graduated from Clemson University in 1946, after serving with Gen. Patton's 4th Armored Division during World War II.
He was a retired dairy farmer and an active leader in the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, the Bamberg County Farm Bureau and the Denmark community. He served as a member of the S.C. Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was on the Executive Committee of the Dairy Division for 15 years. He faithfully served Christ Episcopal Church of Denmark for over 50 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Lee Wayland Gee; son, Norman Gee and sister, Mary Wilson Gee Tuthill.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Warrington Edwards Gee; aunt, Mrs. H. Briggs Salley, of Orangeburg; four children, Elizabeth Gee, of Indonesia, Carolyn G. Foster (Bobby), of Columbia, Charles W. Gee (Kathy), of West Columbia and William G. Gee (Shari), of Denmark; grandchildren, Elizabeth Foster, of Atlanta, Barbara F. Watkins (Jason), of Anderson, Jeffery and Christopher Gee, of West Columbia and Will and Adam Gee, of Denmark.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 237, Denmark SC 29042.
