Mrs. Porter was born July 15, 1930 in Crockett and was the fifth of nine children born to Harvey and Carrie Johnson. She spent her early childhood in Josserand and Groveton Communities and attended Lincoln High School in Port Arthur.

One of her proudest contributions to the community was the establishment of the Harvest Rally program. It still continues to this day and is held on the 4th Sunday of each November.

She met and married Leonard Porter on October 2, 1952. To this union, two children were born. During their marriage and his military career, they traveled the world. Throughout her travels she never met a stanger.

Survivors include two children Leonard Charles Porter and Robbie LaLeice Wooten; six grandchildren great-grandchildren; three brothers Tommy Lee Johnson, Sylvester Johnson and Tommy Lee Johnson and one sister, Dorothy Adams; and one great-aunt Elvola O'Neil.

Preceded in death by her parents; five sisters Zibbile Baker, Josephine King, Emma Daniel, Jesse Harrison and Loretta Whitting; three brothers, Earl Johnson, Harvey E Johnson and Lonnie Johnson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Fellowship Church with the Rev. Henry Lovelady, Rev Ottis Byers and Rev CE Littleton officiating.
Intermet followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
