On December 16, 1950 in South Bend, he married the former Carol M. Herr.
Along with his loving wife, Carol, survivors include their daughter, Diane (Richard) Becker of Walkerton; son, David (Tammie) Carl of Wakarusa; five grandchildren, Danita (Robert) Elkins, Michael (Tonya) Carl, Jennifer (Michael) Gorsuch, Daniel (Lucy) Wilda, and Katie Carl; and nine great grandchildren, Mariah Elkins, Audrey Carl, Regan Carl, Cora Elkins, Chase Carl, Liam Elkins, Owen Gorsuch, Logan Carl, and William Gorsuch. Mr. Carl was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Carl, in 2005.
Mr. Carl retired in 1988 after 23 years as a machinist with Bendix Corporation and Honeywell. He was a 1948 graduate of Riley High School. Mr. Carl was a member of the Faith Christian Chapel in Lakeville and enjoyed gardening. He dearly loved his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of their lives in whatever activity they were involved.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Rev. David Herbster, pastor of Faith Christian Chapel, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Milford Cemetery, Milford, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville.
