Lois Marie Elder, 85, passed away on Monday November 25, 2013.
Memorial Service: 6:30 P.M. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Crowley. Visitation: 3-5 P.M. Friday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home in Burleson. Interment at Miller Cemetery in Silverton, Oregon.
Lois Marie Elder was born on July 29, 1928 in Washington, KS to Guy and Inez Elder, the only daughter among five children. Lois was a vivacious redhead with a love for people, sewing, laughter and Jesus. She fell in love with Melvin Dickerson and they were married in Ft Scott, KS on May 29, 1949 and began a wonderful 62-year romance. Melvin passed away on July 31, 2011.
Melvin and Lois were blessed with six children and.iIn 1957 they moved to Lincoln, NE so their children could receive a continuous Christian education.
In 1975, they moved to Weslaco, TX where they lived for 11 years before moving to Gentry, AR. They retired in 1995 to Bronson, KS until failing health required their move to Sublimity OR in 2006.
Lois was preceded in death by her son Don, in 1990 and brothers Russell, Clyde and Floyd. Survivors include son Dennis and wife Kathy of Crowley, TX; son Mike and wife Verna of Ringgold, GA; daughter Debbie Nakamura and husband Jon of Kapaa, HI; daughter Terri Capps and husband Jerry of Madison, WI; son Jon and wife Sharon of San Antonio, TX; brother Clifford Elder of Morrowville, KS; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
