Louisa Jane (Janie) Dodgion was born in Bosque County, Texas in 1895 to Marion Columbus Dodgion and Clementine Barnett and was named after her paternal grandmother, Louisa Jane (Janie) McNabb Dodgion. She was the third of their four children -- Dawson, Winnie, Jane and Seth. In 1900, when Jane was only five years old, her mother died, and her father reared the four children as a single father.
Janie married Joel Thomas Bowen in 1915 and had three sons -- Raymond Larnett; Clovis William, who died in World War II in Tarawa; and Marion Leverett Bowen.
