Ruth E. (Leininger) Short, 86, a resident of Wendell, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at her home in Wendell.
Ruth was born on October 2, 1927 in Richland, Washington, the daughter of Lawrence and Lucy (Holmes) Leininger. She was raised and educated in Richland, Washington and Buhl, Idaho.
Ruth married Elmo Short on May 3, 1943 in Buhl, Idaho.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Buhl.
Ruth is survived by: her husband of 70 years, Elmo Short of Wendell; one son, Marvin (Carol) Short of Wendell; two daughters, Anna Lowder of Wendell and Linda (Winston) Kennedy of Centerville, Washington; two sisters, Delores (Don) Brock of White Salmon, Washington and Helen Oswalt of Porterville, California; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers; two sons-in-law; one granddaughter; and one great grandson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made in Ruth's name to Life Flight or Hospice Visions.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service – Wendell Chapel with Ruth's grandson, Pastor Tobby Kennedy officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until service time at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Wendell Cemetery.
