Civil War Union Army Officer. He was commissioned as Captain of Company B, 71st New York State Militia on May 3, 1861, and was honorably mustered out on July 31, 1861. He was later commissioned Captain of Company E, 71st New York National Guard on Nay 28, 1862, serving until honorably mustered out on September 2, 1862. Finally, he was commissioned as Colonel and commander of the 71st New York National Guard on June 30, 1863, serving until honorably mustered out on July 22, 1863.
