Teresa Blanton Turner, 65, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Garden Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Teresa Olene Blanton was born Oct. 9, 1948, in Ohio. She spent the first six years of her life in Kentucky as the spoiled first grandchild living with her extended family. Teresa described this time as one of the happiest in her life. She moved to Texas at age 6, then graduated from Arlington Heights High School and Texas Christian University. At the time of her graduation from TCU in 1970, she was married and pregnant with her first child, William Gilliam Cowan Jr. Her daughter, Molly Blaine Cowan, was born in 1974, and her goddaughter, Lena Stuebing, in 1975. Teresa was a teacher for eight years before she decided to return to school. She graduated from Baylor Law School in 1982. During her career, Teresa specialized in personal injury and family law. Teresa lived in Fort Worth after returning from Baylor until 2006, when she purchased "the farm," in Granbury. The farm was eight acres of land with plenty of trees that reminded her of Kentucky. She lived on the farm with many dogs because she could not say no to a dog in need. A miniature schnauzer named Candi Kisses was the princess of Teresa's pack of 14. Survivors: Son, Gil Cowan and wife, Tanya Babitch; daughter, Molly Cowan; goddaughter, Lena Stuebing; and her beloved dogs. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to any animal charity or to Bank of America, account number 488029765980 in Molly's name and all funds will be used to care for and assist in placing Teresa's dogs who are not adopted by family and friends.
