GASTONIA - Katherine Rutledge Lineberger, 99, of Morningside Assisted Living, met the angels on June 26, 2009.

She was born Feb. 15, 1910, the daughter of the late William Wirt and Myrtle Rhyne Rutledge.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. She married the late Abel Robinson Lineberger on June 14, 1930 in Gaston County. They had a 70-year marriage.

Katherine was a graduate of Dallas High Schoo and retired from Robinson Elementary Cafeteria after serving for many years. She was an active mem-ber of Lutheran Chapel Church and the Gaston County Home Demonstration Club.

Katherine was a loving, caring and respected lady in her church and community. She enjoyed gardening as well as canning and freezing the vegeta-bles for her family. As a seamstress, Gelene and Helen learned the art of sewing from her. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known as "Greatmommy" to her children. She will be missed by her loved ones but have many happy memories to cherish.

Survivors include her daughters, Gelene of Gastonia, Helen and husband Marshall; sister, Mary Sue of Gastonia; grandsons, Derek of Gastonia; Drew and wife Jennifer of S.C., Justin and wife Stephanie of Fla.; great-granddaughters, Kelsey, Christopher Ashley and Lillie Katherine of S.C.; great-grandson, Conlan of, Fla.; another great-granddaughter will present herself in the fall; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Lutheran Chapel Church cemetery, conducted by Pastor Ed Crotty.

Ward Funeral Service is serving the Lineberger family.
