Gladys Belle Harmon, the daughter of Orville Franklin and Theresa (Smith) Chastain, was born October 10, 1924, in Rock Port, Missouri and attended the Red Star country school north of Rock Port.

On November 22, 1943, Gladys was united in marriage to George Edward Harmon at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. They made their home in Rock Port where Gladys was a homemaker and raised her three children; Shirley, Stanley and Michael. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port. Gladys passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Grape Community Hospital, in Hamburg, Iowa at the age of 89.

Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by one son, Michael Harmon; six brothers, Allen, Gene, Carroll, Jimmy and two brothers who died as small children; three sisters, Esther Lingerfelt, Faye Morrison, and an infant sister, Roseann. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Stevens and husband, Walter, Watson, Missouri; son, Stanley Harmon, Sr. and his wife, Betty, Rock Port; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Phyllis Rhoades, Fairfax, Missouri.
