John Edmond Collard, 95, known to his family and the community of Madisonville as "Ed", passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 in Madisonville. Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM on Wednesday, November 27th at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glen Campbell officiating. The burial will follow at Jozye Cemetery in Madisonville, weather permitting. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 – 2PM also at Day Funeral Home Chapel. Ed was born on November 7, 1918 in Walker County to Johathain and Alice Irene (Stevens) Collard. He retired from Champion Paper in Houston and moved back to his home on Collard Lake in Madisonville and began his second career as a barber. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Shirley Collard; his son, Joshua Collard and his wife, Kelly; his son, Thomas Collard and his wife Emily; his grandchildren, Lily, Joseph, Carly, Dylan Joy, and Grant; his brother Ottis "Pap" Collard; his sisters, Virgie Lucas, Marie Rice, and Nina Jordy; and numerous other family members.
