Wayne's career of military service spanned over 23 years, and he retired as a Master
Sergeant, having served in Korea, Viet Nam (9 out of 15 campaigns), Japan, Germany, and the United States. He received many commendations, including Expert Infantry Badge, Bronze Stars and Honor and Good Conduct Medals. After his discharge, he taught Army ROTC in High School for 21 years. He was lovingly known as "Sarge." Wayne loved scouting, and received the Silver Beaver Award. His favorite accomplishment was being a 4-Bead Woodbadge Course Director.
Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Seminary and Institute teacher, High Councilman, Branch President, and Bishop. For the past ten years, he has lovingly worked in the Family History program, helping others find their ancestors. Most dear to his heart was his family. He was a wonderful patriarch, and his home was always open to all. From his hospital bed, he blessed them with his love, his praise for their accomplishments, and gave them individual advice for living a loving, successful life.
Wayne is survived by his wife Jacque; his children Tom, Dale, Mike, Dee, and Jai, and six step-children; his brother Larry; his sisters Dona and Verna; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bobbee, his brother Keith, and his granddaughter Raven.
