On Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, our most loved, Denver Dale Acord of Glen White, passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital. He was in his 78th year.

Born on Sept. 3, 1935, at Surveyor, he was the son of the late Lacy Acord (Died in 1968) and Ora Violet Cole-Acord (1915-2008).

Denver was a retired coal miner with 20 years of service in the mining industry. In his leisure time he enjoyed the CB Radio. His CB handle was "Jaguar." Denver was also a HAM operator. Denver immensely enjoyed driving. He knew all the streets in Beckley.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Doris Jean Belcher-McKinney-Acord; a step son, Raymond McKinney and his wife, Deborah McKinney and the grandchildren, Candis, Raymond Jr. and Audrie Lynn; his sisters and brothers, Carol Sue Acord-Wright and her husband, Dale Wright of Beckley, Marie Acord-Barker and her husband, John "Sambo" Barker of Glen Daniel, Dallas Paul Acord and his wife, Connie Acord of Augusta, Ga., Charles "Bucky: Acord and his wife, Rebecca Acord and Carl "Buddy" Acord and his wife, Lela all of Eccles; a special aunt, Ruth Cozart survives as well as several nieces and nephews. Denver had many friends.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. there will be "Service of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Paul Zutaut will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Denver will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park.
