Marva Joan Bingham Fackrell Rock, 82, died peacefully and gracefully on November 22, 2013 near her daughter's home in Sandy, Utah, three years after leaving her longtime home in Brigham City, Utah. In recent years, Marva's memories faded due to Lewy Body Dementia (similar to Alzheimer's), but her physical health and unique and fun-loving spirit was strong to the end.

Marva was born Friday, November 13, 1931 to farmers Wallace James Bingham and Ada Mae Wood Bingham in Amalga, Utah. Marva was the granddaughter of the original settlers of northwest Cache Valley.

As a youngster, Marva was a hardworking farm girl helping to hoe sugar beets, gather hay, raise turkeys, milk cows, and tend horses along with her sister (Bonne Bingham Graham), and two brothers (Robert and LaMont Bingham), she also played the drum in the North Cache High School Marching Band.

The young Marva Bingham married Lewis Hale Fackrell, the son of neighboring Trenton, Utah farmers, on May 21, 1949 in Ogden, Utah and they settled in Brigham City, building a new home at 543 South 3rd West.

Lewis was a returning WWII Veteran who worked for the Union Pacific Railroad at the Brigham City train station, and then at Thiokol during the Apollo space program and the start of the Space Shuttle program. Lewis and Marva raised four children in Brigham City in a wonderful neighborhood with many good friends including Jim and LaRue Checketts and their children who were like family.

Marva was a hard-working homemaker and also worked in her home as a seamstress. She made nearly everything from scratch. She canned fruits and vegetables, made bread by hand, and kept an amazing yard and flower garden. Marva and Lewis enjoyed many things together, including hunting, fishing, horseback-riding, boating, and camping. Lewis died of a surprise heart attack on April 4, 1977 at the young age of forty-nine, leaving a youthful Marva with two children still at home.

The newly widowed Marva, married Brigham City native and close neighbor, Jesse Ronald Rock, on July 1, 1978. Jesse and Marva Rock started a new life together in Jesse's nearby home. They were a great match for each other. Marva and her sweetheart, Jess, had loads of fun together gardening, hunting and fishing. They won countless pigeon races and trophies together as the pigeon racing team of J & M Rock. They also managed a home rental business.

Marva enjoyed crocheting and sewing gifts for her new expanded family including her own four children plus Jesse's five children and many grandchildren. Marva also spent much time caring for her own aging mother, Ada, whom she adored.

After twenty-five years of wonderful marriage, Marva's dear husband, Jesse, died at the age of seventy-one in 2003, leaving Marva a widow once again. Marva moved back into her old home down the street that she had maintained for decades.

She lived alone there until late 2010 (with help from caring neighbors), and then moved to the very comfortable Alta Ridge Alzheimer's Community near her care-giving daughter, Linda, in Sandy, Utah. Marva's three years there were very enjoyable and in a beautiful setting surrounded by wonderful people. Her ending came quickly and easily… a true blessing with assistance from Millcreek Home Health and Hospice.

Marva will be missed by many surviving friends and family members, including her brother, Robert (Florence) Bingham; daughter, Linda (William) Owens of Sandy, Utah; sons: Daniel Fackrell of Kearns, Kirk Fackrell of Sandy, Oregon, and Blake Fackrell of Brigham City; also, Jesse's five children: Becky, Lisa, Jesse Ronald Jr., Steve, and Jon Rock (all living in Northern Utah); and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Thanks for always being there.

An open house celebration of Marva's life will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 North 100 East, Brigham City.
Burial will follow immediately in the Brigham City Cemetery.
