MERILLVILLE, Ind. – Arnold "Arnie" Baier, 79, of Merrillville, formerly of North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

Survived by wife Elrine of 54 years; sons Bruce of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Christopher of Charlotte, N.C.; and his brothers and sisters.

Preceded in death by parents August and Bertha Baier.

Mr. Baier was a graduate of Sentinel High School of Missoula Class of 1952 and a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering. He retired as a computer manufacturing engineer, having worked with General Electric Company with 32 years of service. Arnold was a volunteer with SOWERS and he was a veteran of the Korean War.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. (CST) Monday, Nov.18 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421), with Pastor Arlyn Walters officiating.
