Irene was born Aug. 6, 1923, to J. A. Mack and Anna Farrar in Brookfield, Mo. She graduated from Brookfield High School and was a member of the Brookfield Presbyterian Church. On Christmas Day, 1946, she married Gale T. Bartow. They were married 58 years and blessed with two sons, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her family and friends were the pride of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale T. Bartow.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas M. and Debi Bartow of Henderson, Nev., and Richard G. and Nancy Bartow of Village of Loch Lloyd, Mo.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Irene had many friends and was involved in many civic and service organizations in the community. She was an active member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church, P.E.O., and Art Club. She served as president of the St. Mary's Auxiliary and in 1983 was named Blue Springs Citizen of the year. She made friends wherever she went and enjoyed golf, bridge, many social activities, and traveling. Her family and friends will miss her greatly." The Kansas City Star, March 21, 2012
