"Mrs. Sallie M. Cox Died at Pampa, Burial Here": Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Margaret Cox, 65, who died Saturday at Pampa were held at the Methodist Church here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. D. Ellis conducting the services.
Mrs. Cox was a resident of Palmer for nearly twenty years, leaving here about four years ago with her daughter, Mrs. H. T. Beckham when they moved to Pampa. She suffered a stroke of paralysis in 1924 and since that time has been an invalid.
Sallie Margaret Ray was born July 26, 1864 in North Carolina. She was married to William E. Cox in North Carolina January 15, 1885. They came to Texas about forty years ago, settling near Georgetown. About twenty years later they moved to Ellis County settling near Palmer where they made their home until the death of Mr. Cox. Four years ago she moved to Pampa with her daughter.
Mrs. Cox was the daughter of a Methodist minister, and she was converted in early childhood. For nearly sixty years she had lived a devoted christian life. Only those who knew her could appreciate her sweet christian character.
Mrs. Cox was mother of 12 children, eight of who survive. They are James A. Cox, McCall, S.C., Manning Cox, Mrs. H. T. Beckham and Louis (Lewis) O. Cox of Pampa, Mrs. M. E. Wright, Willow, Oklahoma; Boyd Cox, Pampa, Mrs. E. A. Donathan, Oklahoma City; Mrs. E. E. Fechner, Texarkana. Besides these there are two step children, E. E. Cox, Dallas; Cliff Cox, Tyler, and three brothers, Rev. John Ray and L. P. Ray, Lufkin, and N. L. Ray, Bowie (Buie), N.C.
Interment was made in Palmer cemetery following the services at the church. The following were pallbearers: T. E. Daly, Alton Martin, Dick Beck, Bert Kelly, B. Moore and Willie McKeever.
