Herbert James Mapes, 69, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Word of Life Ministries, 1478 Buchanan Ave., in Sioux City. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Herbert was born in Sioux City on April 17, 1944, the son of Alva and Marian (Bolhman) Mapes. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City and enjoyed going for bus rides.
He is survived by his brothers, Alvin and Clarence "Pete", both of Sioux City; his sisters, June Mohr and Florence Kinney, both of Sioux City, and Elva J. Houts of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and his significant other, Judy Williams and her three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy; and a brother, Billy.
