Gertrude E Kaukeinen Harman, 95, formerly of Gover Street, Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in Manor Care.
She was born June 18, 191 in Oriole, a daughter of Henry E and Ella Grier Yorks.
Gertrude was a wife of the late Kenneth G Harman Sr and Melvin T Kaukeinen.
She was a member of the St John's Lutheran Church and a Sunday school teacher at the St James Lutheran Church.
Gertrude traveled extensively with her first husband with his job.
She volunteered at the Jersey Shore Hospital snack shop.
Gertrude's hobbies were knitting and crocheting.
She enjoyed watching golf, tennis, football, and especially Phillies baseball on TV and attending Penn State Football games.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Getrude is survived by three children, Josof Miltoneph Y (Phyllis) Kaukeinen of Rochester, NY, Melvin T (Timi) Kaukeinen Jr of Bel Air, Md, Linda Esposit of Jersey Shore; seven grandchldren and 13 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Kenneth G (Nancy) Harman Jr of Montoursville, Colleen (Richard) Jones o, Milton, Sally Hollick of Concord, NC, 11 step-grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Yorks of Jersey Shore, Hayes (Jane) Yorks of Lewisburg, Dale (Martha) Kaukenien of Wilmington, Del.
She was predeceased by brothers, Hayes and Joseph Yorks and an infant brother.
Relatives and friends are invited to Gertrude's Life Celebration service at 10 am Friday April 6, at the St James Lutheran Church with her pastor, the Rev Kerry R Aucker officiating. A visitation will be from 9 to 10 am at the church with burial following in Limestone Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to St James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road, Jersey Shore, PA 17740 or the St John's Lutheran Church, 229 S Broad St, Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home", 1002 Allegheny St, Jersey Shore.
