Dorothy Barker-Stockdale, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 5:01am Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Kindred Transitional Care in Kokomo. She was born November 6, 1934 in Carroll County to the late William and Lottie (Mossburg) Thompson.
Dorothy worked at Delco Electronics retiring after 26 years of service. She was also a member of Fairlawn United Brethren Church and First Assembly of God. Dorothy was an avid cook, gardener, and loved to fish. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Denise Simpson, Ohio, Joni Wdowka, Kokomo, and Janet Martin, Kokomo; son and daughter-in-law David and Debra Barker, Carmel; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Sue Adams; step-sisters, Betty Poe and Mary Ellen Jones; and step-brothers, George Rayl and Bob Rayl.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Thompson; Mother, Lottie Rayl; Step-father, William Rayl; first husband, Max Lee Barker in 1987; second husband, David Stockdale in 2003; grandson, Janson Williams in 1996; and sisters, Violet McQuiston and Mary Jane Walls.
Funeral services will be at Noon Saturday November 23, 2013 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time Saturday at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels with envelopes available at the funeral home.
