BERRIEN SPRINGS - Wilburn W. Goosey, 91, of Berrien Springs died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs, with Pastor Ron Kelly officiating. Graveside services with military rites will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Wilburn was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Member (Marcum) Goosey. He served with the 31st Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II, for which he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. On June 3, 1952, in Brookfield, Ill., he married Genevieve Clark. For many years, Wilburn was well-known around Berrien Springs as a painter for his own company, Goosey Painting. He was an active member and deacon of the Village SDA Church.


Survivors include his wife, Genevieve; son, David (Diane) Goosey of Plant City, Fla.; five daughters: Brenda (Larry) Thomas of Hesperia, Mich.; Linda (Mark) Bennett of Asbury, Iowa; Glenda (Joe) Winnell and Melinda (Donny) Milliken, all of Bridgman; and Rhonda Sheehan of Berrien Springs; 21 grandchildren: Suki, Nicador, Kelly, Eric, Jason, Brandon, Bambi, Sara, Lisa Ann, Sondra, Tom, Jovon, Brittany, Tiffany, Chelsea, Patricia, Christina, Charissa, Donald, Gennifer and Patrick; seven great-grandchildren: Hailey, Josiah, Louis, Kaija, Fisher ,Skylar and Eli; brother, George (Mary) Goosey of Hamilton, Mont.; and two sisters: Betty Streibick of Trenton, Ohio, and Judy (Chick) Criswell of Somerset, Ky.


He was preceded in death by a grandson, Spencer Bennett; two brothers, Albert and Raymond Goosey; and two sisters: Marcella Halcomb and Cissie Fraley.
