Randall C. Ballew, Sr., age 90, of Gholson, passed away late Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson with Rev. Jimmy Sansom and Chaplain Irena Vlajnic officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Randall was born September 2, 1923 in Ennis, the son of Horton Columbus Ballew and Mamie Louise (Clark) Ballew.

He attended Gholson school, graduated form West High School in 1942 before receiving a degree in law from Baylor University.

Randall served his country with the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

On January 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Helen Maude Young. Helen preceded him in death on October 23, 2012.

Randall was a lifelong farmer before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and the West Masonic Lodge.

Randall enjoyed taking care of his cattle, fishing, collecting arrowheads, pitching washers along with playing bingo and dominoes. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Randall is also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harold Cortez Ballew, Woodrow T. Ballew, Walton Kenneth Ballew Sr., and Darrell Edmond Ballew.

Survivors include a son, Randall Ballew Jr. and wife Annette of Abbott; daughters, Laura Brisco and husband Dale, Glenna Walker and husband David, all of Gholson, D.J. Beseda and husband Charles of Penelope, Dixie Werner and husband Tom of Crowley and Clair Otto and husband Michael of West; a brother, Van Ballew; grandchildren, Chad, Jody, Luke, Kelley and Cole Brisco, Andrew, Ben and Colin Walker, Teresa Langford, Aaron and Adam Beseda, Byron Werner, Natalie Fontenot, Rachel Ramsey, Reba Wise, Hanna Nacol, and Alyssa and Mallory Ballew; 21 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Andrew Walker, Byron Werner, Natalie Fontenot, Alyssa Ballew, Colby Ballew, Joe Ballew, Aaron Beseda and Jody Brisco.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Providence Hospice, and Abbott Cemetery Association.
