Major Reginald Walter Barnett M.C. & Bar. King's Royal Rifle Corps., Att. 189th Infantry Brigade, Royal Naval Division.

Born on May 11th, 1892. He was the son of W. Barnett Esq., of Bilton Hall, Rugby, and attended Winchester School before going on to Pembroke College, Cambridge in 1911.

He went to France in July 1915 with the 11th Btn. K.R.R.C. and after several months as Adjutant was selected for promotion to the General Staff and appointed Brigade Major to the 189th Infantry Brigade, Royal Naval Division.

He remained with them till March 1918 when he was invalided home with gas poisoning. On his return to France he was appointed G.S.O. second grade, to the 6th Division.
He won a Military Cross and Bar, and was mentioned in despatches and once wounded.

He was killed by a sniper on the morning of August 12th 1918 in an advanced post near Hooge.
