Ervin L. "Shorty" Seifert, 94, of New Fane, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2006, at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.

He was born on May 9, 1912, in Adell the son of the late Anton and Margaret (Liebel) Seifert and on April 13, 1941, he was united in marriage to Malinda Heberer at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. His wife preceded him in death on September 24, 2003.

Shorty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane and the Kewaskum Lions Club. He was employed by the New Fane Cheese Factory for many years and worked at Fairmont Foods in Kewaskum until retirement.

Survivors include his son, Verne Seifert of Fond du Lac and a sister-in-law, Nelda Heberer of West Bend. He was the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Shorty was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Ellis, Clarence, Norman and Gilbert Seifert and four sisters, Vera Meyer, Loretta Schultz, Gladys Seifert and Roma Luedtke.

Funeral services for Shorty were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church, N665 Highway S, Kewaskum (New Fane). Rev. Mark Eckert officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from noon until the time of services.
