The San Francisco Examiner (San Francisco, California), Monday, November 9, 1891, Page 3: The British ship Viscount arrived to-day from Hull after a voyage of 135 days. She left Hull under command of Captain R. Clachrie, and put into Plymouth on account of four crew being unable to steer. These men were discharged and four others shipped in their places. On July 9, the day after leaving Plymouth, Captain Clachrie complained of heart disease. He was confined to his room during the most of the voyage and died August 31. He was buried at sea the next day. Captain Clachrie was a native of Scotland, aged forty-two years. The vessel arrived in command of Chief Officer Courtney.
