SAN ANTONIO - Mr. J.W. "Dub" Barnes, 85, of San Antonio, Texas, died on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1923, in Amarillo, Texas, to Ernest Lee Barnes and Mae Duggan Barnes.
Dub was a retired paint supervisor employed by L.B. Palmer & Sons of San Antonio, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He was married to Mary Jane "Schotzie" Deike, who preceded him in death in 2000.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Barnes of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, John Barnes and wife, Rejeana, of Houston, Texas, and Jay Barnes and wife, Bernadette, of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Charissa Barnes and husband, Felix Venzor, Lindsay and husband, Ben Murphy, Chase, Katie, Allie, Christopher and Alyssa Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Ashton and Aven Venzor and Jaclyn Murphy.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with the Rev. John Massey officiating.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
