John E. Collins, 85, of Martinsville died Dec. 26 at Morgan County Memorial Hospital. The son of Harrison and Arminta Stafford Collins, he was born Sept. 14, 1907, in Morgan County. He married Anna Belle Mason on Sept. 4, 1931, and she survives.

Collins retired in 1971 after 21 years at the General Motors Chevrolet plant in Indianapolis. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Centerton.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Donald E. of Tulsa, Okla., and William E. Collins of Paragon; a daughter Madonna I. Lowe of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Lee, Raymond, Loren and Everett Collins and an infant; four sisters, Letha Ellis, Josephine Simpson, Evangeline Vonderay and Susie Perry.

Elder John Mason, Rev. Paul Wylie and Rev. Delbert Streiby will officiate at the funeral services today (Wednesday) at 1 pm at Cure & Hensley-Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
