Matilda Zabel was born March 3, 1868 at Onaga, Kansas. She was married to Albert Kolterman February 2, 1888. To this union five children were born: Pearl Hawk of Muscatine, Iowa, Grace, who died last December 11; George and Grant of Golden City, Missouri and Heles Hickman of Joplin, Missouri.

Besides her children and two grandchildren, she has three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Ladwig of Seneca, Mrs. Amelia Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga of Onaga and Mrs. Malinda Hobbs of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Five brothers, Charley, John and Leopold of Onaga, Fred of Ft. Collins, Colorado and George of Los Angeles, California. One brother, Robert, preceded her in death in March 1941.

In 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Kolterman with their family moved to Golden City, Missouri. Mr. Kolterman was overtaken by death a few years after moving to Golden City, on May 26, 1920. Mrs. Kolterman was privileged to live her allotted time, and died in Carthage, Missouri November 6, 1942 at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 3 days.
