Richard, a native of Cuba, New Mexico and a resident of Farmington, was predeceased by his parents Jose Francisco and Candida Archuleta; and brothers: JB, Frank, Prospero, and Vicente.

Richard was survived by his sons: Duane Archuleta and Raul Archuleta (Kristin); daughter Jolyn (Deanna) Janelle (Jon); sisters: Josephine Gutierrez, Priscilla Ramirez and Annie Montes (Gilbert); grandchildren: Mario Archuleta, Santiago Archuleta, Raegan Archuleta, Sam Janelle and Emma Janelle; sisters-in-laws: Inez Archuleta, Sally Archuleta, and Elsie Archuleta; best friends Ted Gutierrez and Mike Quintana, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Richard was a generous man. He retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation. He would help anyone out who needed anything. He loved spending time with his family and friends, Tejano music, and going to the Casino. He was a brilliant musician and enjoyed jamming out with friends. He was such a spirited man who was full of life. He had a great sense of humor. He had many friends and will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral Mass was on 17 Nov 2013 at Santo Niño Catholic Church in La Jara, New Mexico. Burial immediately followed. A Reception followed the burial at Guadalupe Hall in Cuba.
