ELIOT - Alonzo Edwin Titus, 84 of 58 Pleasant St. a retired Portsmouth Naval Shipyard employee, died this morning at York Hospital.

He was born in Rockland, Maine, July 30, 1878, the son of Eligh and Irene (Wasgatt) Titus and had been a resident here for 64 years.

A shipyard supervisor weight clerk, he retired in 1948 after 43 years service.

He was a member of the Advent Christian Church of Eliot.

He was a 58-year member and past master of Naval Lodge, AF&EM, and the Maine Royal Arch Chapter; the Maine Council of Saco, Maine; and the Braford Commandery of Knights Temple, Mystic Shrine, of Lewiston, Maine and the Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, of Portland.

He was the oldest past patron of Piscataqua Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of Kittery.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Stella (Bowden) Titus of Eliot; Two daughters, Mrs. Florence Searles and Mrs. Alice Green both of Eliot; a son, Ralph of Eliot, a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Bosion of Auburn, Ala, a step-son Aneil Bowden of Eliot, six grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; and several nieces and nephews.
