James rode off into the night of Nov. 1, 2013 at the age of 82. He was born Sept. 11, 1931 in Dillon, Montana. Noxon, Montana was his home until joining the U.S. Navy. He was a quarter-master 2nd class on the U.S.S. Murrlet and the U.S.S. Embattle (1st wooden minesweeper commissioned on the west coast.) Jim resided in Norco, CA for 32 years and was quite the outdoorsman. He loved bowling, camping, boating, fishing and horseback riding, but his favorite past-time was his family. Married to Patricia for 57 years, he left quite a legacy: One daughter, Cheryl Verret (Wes) of Beaverton, Oregon; three sons, Ross "Butch" of Laguna Niguel, Leo "Bud" (Emilie) of Westminster and James "Jimmie" (Jody) of Wildomar. They honored him with 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Negron of Prineville, Oregon and Vonnie Bristow of Sagle, Idaho; 2 nephews; 1 niece; and cousin Wayne Meeds of Charlotte, N. Carolina. Many thanks to Independence Assistance for 2 excellent caregivers Samantha Aj and Patricia Colville, also Patriot Guard Riders and Hospice. Jim is at rest at Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary of Riverside. He was honored with a full military service on Nov. 6, 2013. God rest "Our Love". Published in Press-Enterprise on Nov. 14, 2013.
